We have had another fun-packed week in Nursery!
Personal, Social, and Emotional Development, Communication, and Language
This week, we revisited Ruby’s Worry and discussed how talking about worries can help them feel smaller. Please encourage your child to share any worries they may have and remind them that they can always talk to you or at school to their Teachers.
We continued learning about the ingredients of being a mensch and reread Have You Filled a Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud. The children then drew pictures in a bucket to show acts of kindness, such as helping a friend, sharing, and being kind.
Literacy
We reviewed previously taught sounds and introduced the sound ‘f’. The children discussed objects beginning with ‘f’ and shared items they had brought from home. Please use the reference video to ensure correct sound pronunciation: reference video
Mathematics
This week in Maths, we discussed how patterns are all around us. We identified patterns in our clothes and even the soles of our shoes. We then practised creating different types of patterns, including clapping patterns, as well as number, colour, and shape patterns.
Understanding the World
This week, we started our new topic, Change and Life Cycles. We were excited to welcome the chicks and talked about the different stages they go through before hatching. The children were thrilled to see the chicks hatch and enjoyed holding them. Some of the children also made chicks out of playdough and created chick paintings.

Music
This week we learnt a new scarf song. The children did an amazing job following the instructions and waving the scarf in different directions.
PE
In PE, Nursery prepared for sports day by practising different sporting events such as Javelin throwing, Hurdle running, egg and spoon and long jump.
Ivrit
As we all love books, and with this month being Book Month in Israel, we had the pleasure of enjoying the famous story The Very Hungry Caterpillar By Eric Carle (הזחל הרעב) in Ivrit.
We watched a lovely video of the story in Ivrit while following along with the original book. Through the story, we practised counting the days and numbers in Ivrit, learned the days of the week, and recalled some of the fruits we already know from Tu Bishvat and Rosh Hashanah, such as tapuach (apple), agas (pear), and tapuz (orange), which are all mentioned in the story.
For our creative activity, the children matched, cut and glued the correct pictures to the corresponding numbers, reinforcing their counting skills in a fun and engaging way.
We had a wonderful time learning through this much-loved story!

Jewish Studies
This week’s Nursery class:
- Explored Parashat Beha’alotecha, in which Hashem tells Moshe to make two silver trumpets to be blown as signals when he wants to gather Bnei Yisrael together. Each of the children made their own fantastic sparkly silver trumpets to take home, and we all had a ball telling our Bee-Bots when to stop and when to go!
- Looked into the Jewish Way of Life curriculum topic of Mitzvot. Some mitzvot are for boys or for girls, e.g. wearing a kippah, tzitzit or lighting Shabbat candles, whereas some mitzvot are for everyone. We looked at some real mezuzot and learned that a mezuzah is a special scroll inside a case that is placed on our doorposts. Everyone made their own beautiful mezuzah case craft to cherish. Well done, children – they look brilliant!
