Our 3+ Pre-School Nursery provides a warm, stimulating and nurturing environment where children thrive through a rich, play-based curriculum. Children naturally progress from Little Grapes (9 months – 3 years) to the pre-school nursery, where their learning is led by a qualified teacher.

Learning through play

Play is at the heart of a child’s development. It helps children focus, persevere, and become self-reliant, building essential skills for lifelong learning. Through play, they gain confidence, develop self-esteem, and learn to cooperate, share, and solve problems. Role-playing encourages them to see the world from different perspectives and understand important concepts in a fun, meaningful way.

Pre-Prep Nursery: 3+

Kerem Pre-School is our nursery group for children aged 3–4 and forms part of the Kerem School journey. It provides a calm, structured and school‑ready environment that bridges Nursery and Reception. Places are offered on a termly basis, reflecting the more school‑like rhythm of this stage.

Holiday care for Kerem Pre-School pupils is offered separately through weekly holiday camps. These are optional, fee‑paying and booked independently of term‑time nursery places.

Any government‑funded entitlement is applied within the termly fee structure by the school. You can see our termly fees here.

What’s Included

Kerem 3+ Pre-School Nursery fees are inclusive of consumables and enrichment during term time and cover:

Care and education during term time 08.30 – 3.00 pm
Meals and snacks 8.30-3.00pm
Learning materials, enrichment and resources

There are no separate consumables charges during term time.

A rich range of activities

Pupils enjoy a broad range of learning experiences including phonics, early literacy and numeracy, as well as specialist teaching in Music, PE, Ivrit, Jewish Studies and Forest School. In addition to a daily morning Tefillah shared with Reception children, pre-prep nursery pupils receive a daily hour of Jewish Studies and twice-weekly Ivrit lessons, taught by specialist teachers.

Grounded in the EYFS curriculum

Nursery pupils enjoy carefully planned activities that support communication and language, physical development, and emotional well-being, with a particular emphasis on learning to listen, take turns, follow simple instructions, and build positive relationships.

Alongside this, children begin to develop early literacy and numeracy foundations in an age-appropriate way — such as enjoying stories and songs, recognising their name, developing fine motor skills for mark-making, counting through play, and exploring shapes and patterns. The aim is not formal learning, but to ensure children are curious, secure, and well prepared for Reception.

Freeflow: freedom to learn

Learning is delivered through a carefully planned free-flow approach, allowing children to move independently between indoor and outdoor environments, follow their interests and build confidence, curiosity and resilience. This balance of adult-led and child-initiated learning supports rapid progress, and our pupils consistently make excellent progress in line with — and often exceeding — local and national benchmarks by the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Pastoral Care

Our high teacher-to-child ratios allow us to make sure that every child is truly known, supported, and encouraged to grow. This individualised pastoral approach places happiness and well-being at the heart of our practice, ensuring every child feels safe and valued.

Aligned with the EYFS Personal, Social, and Emotional Development (PSED) framework, our teachers work in close collaboration with our dedicated Wellbeing Practitioner, to nurture emotional resilience, social skills, and positive relationships. Together, they provide tailored support, help children manage emotions, and guide them through transitions, creating a caring environment where every child can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.
