“Innings and Outings” Trips and In-School Enrichment
We are always looking for meaningful ways to enrich and enhance pupils’ learning. Through our extensive programme of trips and residentials, Kerem pupils gain in knowledge, independence, and confidence and make memories that stay with them long after they leave Kerem.
As well as ‘outings’ we also organise ‘innings’ – exciting educational experiences from visiting subject specialists, musicians, dancers and theatre groups, hosted at Kerem.
We aim to ensure that each year group has at least one ‘outing’ and one ‘inning’ per term closely linked to what they are learning in school. From ‘Greek’ Days to drama workshops and from the JW3 Panto to a whole school trip to Kew Gardens to celebrate Tu B’Shevat, these experiences enable pupils to immerse themselves in their studies in exciting and practical ways and bring classroom learning to life.
Some examples of recent enrichment experiences include visiting the Toy Museum in Bethnal Green to support Year 1’s learning about the Great Fire of London and a trip to Southend-on-Sea for Year 2 to develop their understanding of coastal features. By Year 3, learning becomes even more immersive, with pupils stepping back in time at Celtic Harmony to experience life in the Stone Age and Iron Age and visiting Hampton Court Palace to deepen their understanding of the Tudors and Henry VIII, as well as exploring the Living Rainforest to enrich their science and geography studies.
In years 4 – 6 pupils go on residential trips, starting with a one night Shabbaton in year 4, a two night outward bound adventure in Year 5 and a 3 night ‘road trip’ examining the history of the Jewish community in the UK with time spent connecting with other Jewish school communities.
